This purchase is for a subframe designed for the V-Strom 800 to allow the use of top/bottom engine guards and skid plate. The steel tubing has two mounting points on each side preventing them from rotating in the event of a low side. They are also braced together in the middle to further increase the strength of the guards. We use highest grade commercially available 12.9(177,000 psi in tensile strength) wherever possible. Rest assured that you are getting the best material commercially available.

No structural or cosmetic defects, easy install. Works as intended.

Note that on my 2024 base model the middle-left bolt could only be accessed by moving part of a rubber sheath. The sheath was held into the bolt hole i needed with a plastic threaded button. So, when this subframe is installed, you can secure the sheath back in place so that it doesn't contact the radiator by looping the button hole over the subframe bolt head. Very clean looking as a result

I installed this part and the top engine guards in the same day. Installation wasn't necessarily difficult, besides having to install some bolts before others. Otherwise, they would never line up properly. I noticed that despite the packaging being done well, there were still defects in the paint. Cracks and chips, not many but enough to notice.
